Part Guidebook.
Part Autobiography.
Part Photographic Journal.

Hello & Welcome

We're Ian, Sarah and Eve.

Our Spectrum Adventures is a collaboration of everything we've learned to help you, inspire you and entertain you! For us, it's a record—evidence of what we have done and how we chose to live.

The best way I can describe to you what this website is, is part photographic journal, part guidebook, and part autobiography. But have a look around and let me know what you think—and hopefully subscribe.

A few posts to get you started

Here are a few interesting posts that (to me) give you a wee taste of what we write about.

Wee Blether Newsletter

Published as part of our Wee Blether Newsletter, 'Why we chose to hike on Coronation Day' is a short newsletter detailing my thoughts on the British Monarchy and, more importantly, why we would rather be on the trail. It was quite controversial when I published it!

Why we chose to hike on coronation day (I will let you into a little secret!)
We made the controversial decision to hike on coronation day. This is why... P.S. I will let you into a little secret!

Outdoor Hacks

This is surprisingly one of our most popular posts, with around 300 people reading it daily! What surprises me the most is that the post is about a bottle!

28 reasons why Nalgene bottles are great for lightweight hiking and backpacking.
Despite constantly trying to lower my pack weight, I never go out without my Nalgene 500ml HDPE* bottle. Nalgene’s are amazing, multifunctional pieces of kit that deserve a spot on any outdoor and travel kit list (I even make my daughter carry one!)

Photographic Journals

I loved hiking Benvane, a small mountain (Corbett) located in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. The views were spectacular, and the whole experience was exceptional!

Benvane | The gentle giant of Trossachs
Benvane is a soft hulk of a mountain that sits quietly in the shadow of its big brother, Ben Ledi. Climbing it would be a more joyous and solemoving adventure than I had ever expected!

Life and Lifestyle

Life is full of adventure, and it doesn't have to involve scaling mountains or travelling to the other side of the planet.

Our Edinburgh Fringe Experience
The Edinburgh Fringe has been on our bucket list for a while, so this year we decided to do the Edinburgh Fringe Experience. The Fringe was as fascinating as it was bizarre, as it was insightful... and we loved every minute of it!
